Call For Abstracts Open: June 10, 2024
We are excited to announce the 2025 AEI Conference Theme “Delivering Future Ready Buildings: An Integrated Approach." The technical program will focus on strategies for integrating architecture, engineering, construction, biomaterials, technology and key industry stakeholders.
Reimagining the buildings of the future that are more resilient, adaptive, healthy, and sustainable, will require a holistic approach that involves a diverse interdisciplinary team of architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners early in the design process, and the academic community to prepare the minds of the next generation to get us there!
The technical program will consist of a blend of individual technical presentations, case studies, panel discussions, and paper presentations. Graduate and undergraduate research posters will be featured in a technical session or on display throughout the conference depending on the demand. The poster submission process will be issued in January 2025.
Note to Authors
This year’s program will feature a track of sessions for paper presentations that will be published in the AEI 2025 Conference Post-Conference Proceedings. Authors will submit an abstract during the Call For Abstracts process. If the abstract is accepted, authors will then provide a first draft and final paper as outlined in the Important Dates below. The primary author listed in the submission will be required to register for the conference and present at the conference in order to have the paper included in the proceedings.
Also, please consider submitting a paper to the AEI Journal of Architectural Engineering!
Technical Program Tracks – AEI Build
Abstract submitters will be required to identify the best fit AEI Build category and sub-topic when submitting abstracts. AEI Build draws on the best ideas in design, construction, and maintenance of buildings in seven practice-focused areas of the architectural engineering profession: Deliver, Enclose, Learn, Modular, Perform, Resilient, and Sustain. Learn more about the AEI Build Technical Communities.

Session Types
Technical concurrent breakout sessions are 60 - 90-minute blocks that will be subdivided per presentation type as outlined below. AE practitioners proposing a technical or case study presentation are encouraged to focus subjects on the most current industry practices in a vendor-neutral format.
- Panel Sessions: Multi-disciplinary teams discuss, debate, or present knowledge in an engaging way with the audience. (90 minutes)
- Technical Presentation:
- Case Studies: The presentation must include a multi-disciplinary project team. Teams will describe in detail an entire project including: project management, architecture and engineered design, challenges, failures, successes, outcome, and the owner perspective. (45 minutes)
- Individual Technical Podium Presentation: Present a single subject that advances the AEI Builds. (20 minutes)
- Individual Paper Podium Presentation: Present a single subject that advances the AEI Builds. (30 minutes)
- Technology/Software Company Presentation/ Demonstration: Present or demonstrate the business ideas and solutions for new design and construction, or material technology, to allow businesses to connect with researchers and practitioners in the field
Abstract Requirements
- Abstracts may be submitted in MS Word for proposed presentations and are expected to be between 200 to 400 words. Abstracts cannot contain images, tables, or other graphic elements.
- Submissions must include the full names, credentials, affiliations, contact information, and email addresses for ALL individuals who will be presenting at the conference. Contributing Authors for paper presentations may be recognized in the abstract and PPTs, but should not be listed as a speaker unless they are registered and presenting at the conference.
